Independent Venue Week has revealed the final list of venues and shows participating in its debut US edition, which follows a half-decade of massive success in its native UK. The inaugural American edition of Independent Venue Week runs July 9-15 in venues across the country. The event gives a nod to the people that own, run, and work in them day in, day out to bring the very best new live talent to eager audiences. Independent Venue Week officially welcomes Eventbrite and Songtrust as founding year partners for the US launch. Eventbrite partners with over 2,000 of the top independent promoters, venues and festivals across North America. Songtrust provides a technology platform for music publishing and royalty collection services to help simplify music rights management.

In the early/mid-80s, Charlie Pickett and the Eggs were -- hands down -- the punk gods of South Florida. They anchored the Open Books' Land That Time Forgot compilation. They had college radio, when it was fomenting alternative as a genre, with 'If This Is Love (Can I Get My Money Back),' 'Overtown,' 'Marlboro Country,' massive press in NME, Melody Maker, Trouser Press, NY Rocker, and CMJ. The band caught the notice of REM's Peter Buck, who championed the band, and appears as a special guest on this See You In Miami, out August 17th on Y&T Records.

One of the first songs that urban-jazz saxophonist Sam Rucker recorded for his third album, “Redemption,” was the soothing “Overcomer,” on which he emotes intimately on soprano sax during an uplifting exchange with a guitar duo comprised of his nephew, Justin Taylor, and John Calisto. Tragically, both guitarists passed away unexpectedly three days apart and the tune Rucker wrote to comfort and inspire others became his own healing grace. It is a focal point of the rousing eleven-track set penned and produced by Rucker that drops August 24 from Favor Productions.

CBS today announced two new true-crime series for broadcast this summer: WHISTLEBLOWER, premiering Friday, July 13 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), and PINK COLLAR CRIMES, debuting Saturday, July 28 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.

RANDOM ACTS OF FLYNESS, a new late-night series from artist Terence Nance (“An Oversimplification of Her Beauty”), kicks off its six-episode season FRIDAY, AUG. 3 (midnight-12:30 a.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO, followed by other episodes subsequent Fridays at the same time. The show explores evergreen cultural idioms such as patriarchy, white supremacy and sensuality from a new, thought-provoking perspective.

American Authors and Brandon Victor Dixon join the incredible slate of performers for NBC's annual "Macy's 4th of JulyFireworks® Spectacular," which airs Wednesday, July 4 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT) with an hourlong encore presentation at 10 p.m. Dixon will be joined by the iconic Harlem Gospel Choir for a rendition of the patriotic "America the Beautiful."

Grammy-nominated band Panic! At The Disco have earned their  second consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart with their critically acclaimed sixth album, Pray For The Wicked.  Debuting at No. 1 on iTunes in 22 countries, the album launched with 180,000 equivalent album units earned, 151,000 of which were traditional album sales. Both figures represent the biggest week for an alternative rock album in 2018, according to Billboard. According to Nielsen Music, the album saw the fifth-largest week for a vinyl effort since the company began tracking sales in 1991. Lead single 'Say Amen (Saturday Night) is also currently No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative Songs Chart and current single 'High Hopes' is exploding at streaming services. Rising LA-based duo Neil Frances have revealed their new single “Coming Back Around” HERE as part of their upcoming Took A While EP (release date tba). The duo will be supporting Poolside on a string of tour dates in August and September, making stops in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Brooklyn and more.
