Midwest orchestral indie rock band Cloud Cult is kicking off 2018 with new music and a handful of unique performances, many of which are already sold out. On January 18th, Cloud Cult will release the soundtrack to the feature length documentary The Great Alone. The award-winning film score was composed by Cloud Cult frontman Craig Minowa and is performed by Cloud Cult. The film stars Lance Mackey, was directed by Greg Kohs and has won multiple awards including the "Grand Jury Award" at the Seattle International Film Festival. Watch on Amazon, Netflix or iTunes now and purchase the score on January 18th via the Cloud Cult website HERE.
Cloud Cult will be supporting The Great Alone soundtrack release with select shows around the U.S. beginning with a sold-out Lincoln Center Appel Room show on January 26th as part of their American Songbook Series. In February, the band plays Viroqua, WI's Historic Temple Theatre on the 2nd (also sold out), performs a special Rochester, MN acoustic show at Lourdes on the 3rd, and returns to Lutsen Mountains for a double-set on the 10th. Then in April they will be playing two sold-out shows with the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra on April 7th and 8th - the venue's fastest selling shows EVER.
Throughout the band's more than two-decade career, they've remained staunchly independent and have found success on their own terms. They've earned critical praise over the 20 plus years including recent features on NPR's On Being, Entertainment Weekly and KCRW and even won an Emmy.
The upcoming tour dates will feature the band with live artists on stage, a longstanding tradition for the group who early on in their career incorporated live painters (read more about that by the Wall Street Journal HERE).
