When rules are unjust, we need to break them. This early play by Tennessee Williams is the story, based on real events, of a prison in which inmates fight back against the oppression of a physically abusive and even murderous warden. Written in 1938 and rediscovered in the late 1990's when it was revived in London and on Broadway, Not About Nightingales shows signs of the genius Williams would later prove to be.
