Inspired by Southern African-American and Japanese folktales and playwright Andrew Saitos multicultural family, this radio play follows Momotaro, a magical Japanese boy born to an elderly Black couple after an encounter with a power-filled peach. While his mother Vonda resists the encroachment of a billionaire ogres capitalist mega-corporation, Momo wanders the wilds of Georgia, meeting animal friends and foes along the way. Can they reunite and thrive together as a family, against all odds?Brer Peach is a rolling world premiere audio play originating at Alter Theater in San Francisco, CA and connecting BIPOC theatres across the country. The play is produced in collaboration with Alter Theater and The ParsnipShip, a media company based in Brooklyn, NY who have been producing live podcast plays since 2015.
