Directed by Buster Maloney and Donna Trammell, this production is based on the true story of eleven Women's Institute members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund. Described as “shamelessly sentimental and utterly captivating”, this is an uplifting theatre experience not to be missed.
The story opens when Annie's husband dies of leukemia and her fellow WI members rally around her. She and her best friend, Chris, come up with a plan to raise funds for a new sofa in their local hospital’s waiting room. They persuade four other members, Cora, Celia, and Ruth, to pose nude with them for a calendar. They enlist the help of hospital porter and amateur photographer, Lawrence. News of their endeavor quickly spreads and reporters flock to their small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is more successful than they ever dreamed, but the stress of this new-found celebrity becomes quite a test for Chris and Annie’s friendship.
