Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 8:00 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 3:00 p.m. William Shakespeares most famous story of love at first sight explodes with intense passion and heartbreaking consequences. In the beautiful city of Verona, two unlucky children of feuding families become lovers, and we watch the story of their doomed love. But alongside the plays sense of foreboding are beautiful occasions and even a few laughs. The narratives center is the joy and excitement of young Romeos passionate, impetuous whims and the independent, willful, girlish energy that radiates from young Juliet. The back-and-forth with her nurse brings delightful moments of comic relief and playful scheming.Yet, as director Dennis ODonovan explains, Shakespeares message in Romeo and Juliet is the destructive power of hate. Indeed, the Bard continues to teach lessons some 400 years after his time. A.C.T.s production of this Shakespearean classic stars Collin Salvator and Jenni Lawton as Romeo and Juliet and features Blanche Baxter, Jack Krantz, Michael Ladewig, Stephen Mayer, Samantha McCue, Stuart Mohr, Fletcher Morton, Cameron Pomeroy, and Becca Roy.
