The tender-hearted favorite Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling is set in a beauty salon in Louisiana where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Filled with hilarious repartee and humorously revealing verbal collisions, the ladies draw on their underlying strengthand loveto make them marvelously amiable company in good times and bad. The play is alternately hilarious and touchingand, in the end, deeply revealing of the womens strength and purposefulness. Steel Magnolias tugs at the heart while making us laugh. Its a true story based on the playwrights diaries about the lives of his sister, mother and his mothers friends, said director Donna Amaru. The characters in the play represent real people who portray the love, strength, camaraderie and empowerment of the sisterhood of women. It is a most fitting play for Womens History Month. This touching portrait and celebration of womens strength will be on stage at A.C.T. March 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22. Steel Magnolias stars Lauren Adrian, Nancy Dickenson, Colette Schweizer, Amiekay Richcrick, Sherri Paradis and Joyce Milligan.
