To schedule an audition or ask questions, please email Director Nancy Ridgeway at ridgeway.nar@gmail.com. Include your theatrical resume, headshot, and your desired role. You will receive an audition time slot, sides and music to prepare. Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduled auditions are appreciated.

Rehearsals will begin Sunday, February 9th, and are expected to be 3-4 times per week, tentatively Sun/Tues/Wed/Thurs. A tentative rehearsal schedule, subject to availability depending on casting, will be provided at the auditions. Please disclose all conflicts at the audition.

Audition Requirements
Vocal Auditions: Actors will sing a song from the show consistent with their desired role (see character breakdown below) and will be provided the sheet music to prepare. Ensemble members will also be given sheet music to prepare. Please bring sheet music with you to the audition as an accompanist will be present.

Dance Audition: All actors will participate in a short dance/movement audition. We are also seeking 6 dancers for the ensemble. The callback on February 5th is specifically for the dance ensemble; singing ability is not required for the dance ensemble.

This is a non-Equity production.

All roles are unpaid and open to performers of any race, gender, or identity.

Character Breakdown & Additional Information
Guido Contini: (Baritone/Tenor) Considered one of the greatest roles for an actor/singer in modern-day musical theater. Age 40 (could go younger or older). A world famous film director going through a mid­life crisis. A lover of all women. He is sexy, outrageous, strong, funny and vulnerable all at the same time. Audition Song: Guido’s Song

Young Guido: (Boy Soprano) Guido at the age of 9 or appears to be age 9 on stage. Guido’s inner child who is ultimately his salvation. Should be comfortable with movement. Audition song: Getting Tall

Luisa Contini: (Alto) Guido’s wife (30’s but can go younger or older) A former actress who is well aware of her husband’s artistic genius and his infidelities. Audition Song: My Husband Makes Movies

Carla: (Soprano w/belt mix) Guido’s mistress. Somewhere between 18 and 25. Young, sexy, smart, and very naive. Should move well if possible. Will have a solo dance/movement while singing, A Call from the Vatican. Audition Song: A Call from the Vatican

Claudia: (Mezzo Soprano) Guido’s Muse. Any age. A movie star and Guido’s former lover. The leading actress in all of his early films. Audition Song: Unusual Way

Guido’s mother: (Soprano) The one woman Guido loves without deception. She is strong, loving, and extremely honest. She appears to Guido in memories of his past and predictions of his future. Audition Song: Nine

Liliane La Fleur: (Alto) Guido’s producer and former star of the Folies­ Bergere. A mature actress. A true Diva and a cunning business woman. Speaks with a French accent. Should be able to handle minimal “ showgirl “ choreography or more. Audition Song: Folies Bergeres

Stephanie Necrophorus: (Alto) A film critic. Not a fan of Guido’s work and highly critical of him. Audition Song: Folie Bergeres (section for Necrophorus)

Serraghina: (Alto) A voluptuous prostitute from Guido’s past. 35 -40 (could go younger or older). A lusty Earth Mother who tells the young Guido about sex. Must have a good sense of rhythm. Audition Song: Be Italian

Mama Maddalena: (Alto) The manager of the spa. She is feisty and comical 30+. Audition Song: Not Since Charlie Chaplin

Our Lady of the Spa: (Soprano) A spiritual being. Guido’s ethereal guide of the spa. Audition Song: Not Since Charlie Chaplin

Lina Darling: (Alto or Soprano) Liliane La Fleur’s bodyguard: A sinister figure who could determine Guido’s life or death. Any age. Audition Song: Not Since Charlie Chaplin

Ensemble: The Italians: Maria, Giulietta, Annabella, Francesca, Diana, Renata. The Germans: Olga Von Sturm, Heidi VonSturm, Ilsa VonHesse, Gretchen VonKrupf. All roles have specific character traits and dialogue. All different types and vocal ranges. Wonderful comical roles for character actresses. Audition Song: Not Since Charlie Chaplin
