The acclaimed indie opera company Heartbeat Opera presents the world premiere of a radical new 90-minute adaptation of Bizet’s operatic masterpiece CARMEN. Bizet’s explosive masterpiece is stripped down to the four central characters, and throws Heartbeat’s “crack chamber ensemble” Cantata Profana (performing a new arrangement for piano, percussion, saxophones, bass, guitar, and violin) out of the traditional orchestral pit and onto the stage. CARMEN is presented as part of the third annual Spring Festival alongside Puccini’s BUTTERFLY (May 20-28). General Admission is $35 ($50 premium seating, $15 Students) and can be purchased online at Baruch Performing Arts Center.
