Uruguayan/American pianist Gustavo Casenave has been performing together with Argentinian/American drummer Franco Pinna since 2007. However this concert will be the duo debut, that differs in concept from the Gustavo Casenave Trio that they have performed as in the past. The duo offers a more flexible improvisational realm, where musical connection and spirituality become one on stage. This new type of collaboration, allows itself to explore unconventional and non traditional grounds, offering a truly unique musical experience within the worlds of Jazz, Classical, Tango and other South American rhythms.
Artist Bio:
Gustavo Casenave is a three-time Grammy-winning pianist, composer and producer, with six Grammy nominations total. A Steinway Artist, “Illustrious Citizen of the City of Montevideo” (Uruguay), two-time “Global Awards Gold Medal Winner,” “Majestic Excellence Award 2022 Winner” at the Excellence Piano Awards International Competition and “The American Prize” composition contest winner. He has collaborated and recorded with Yo-Yo Ma, Christian McBride, the 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic, Eddie Gomez, John Patitucci, Paquito D’Rivera, Deepak Chopra and Bette Midler. He has given master classes and lectures at The Juilliard School, Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Yale University and Columbia University.
Franco Pinna is an Argentinean drummer and percussionist. He has earned a unique status in the New York musical scene, having collaborated with Paquito D'Rivera, Oscar Stagnaro, Claudia Acuña, Mika Pohjola, , Marta Topferova, Claudio Ragazzi and Toño Arnedo, among many others. He has extensively toured worldwide at venues such as Royal Albert Hall, (BBC proms ), Tokyo Jazz Festival, The Blue Note, London Queen Elisabeth Hall, Jazz Royale in Thailand, The Vienna Jazz Festival, The Hague jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival. and many other venues in Asia, Europe and the Americas.
