On December 7, Polyphony, a renowned music ensemble from Nazareth, Israel, makes its San Francisco debut at Congregation Emanu-El. Founded by musician and educator Nabeel Abboud Ashkar, the ensemble unites Israeli Arab and Jewish musicians to create a concert program that reflects a rich blend of Western classical and Arabic music traditions. Featured musicians include violinists Yuval Nuri Shem-Tov and Loor Jabareen, mezzo-soprano Doreen Sassine, and guest artists such as Maya Belsitzman and Gordon Haramaki. Following the performance, Chanan Tigay will lead a discussion with Nabeel Abboud Ashkar, focusing on the ensemble's mission of fostering cultural collaboration through music.
