Beyond Shakespeare. At the bottom of the world. At the limits of love. Ninth Planet presents the world premiere of Prospero's Island, a new chamber opera about power, deception, terrible secrets and new beginnings from acclaimed Bay Area opera creators by Allen Shearer and Claudia Stevens. Based on The Tempest and updated to the 1950s, the opera takes place in the Falkland Islands, with a stellar cast, stunning imagery and singing penguins played by members of San Francisco Girls Chorus.
