Smuin concludes its quarter-century celebration with a smashing world premiere by master dancemaker Amy Seiwert, set to the empowering a cappella soundtrack of Oaklands very own Kitka Women's Vocal Ensemble. After ten years as the Companys Choreographer-in-Residence, Seiwert returns to help Smuin celebrate its milestone 25th season with this groundbreaking work, loosely inspired by the 385-mile protest wall of women in India on New Years Day 2019. Also on the bill is "The Best of Smuin," featuring the return of timeless Michael Smuin favorites such as "Unforgettable," "Foolish Things," and the red-hot chair solo "Fever" from Smuins inaugural program. Along with highlights from "Carmina Burana," "Dancin With Gershwin," and "Frankie and Johnny," this showcase of classics is packed with the ol razzle-dazzle, visually stunning effects, and Smuins trademark twists. For information or tickets call (925) 943-7469 or visit www.smuinballet.org.Showtimes:7:30pm Friday, May 172:00pm Saturday, May 18
