Mozart’s final opera is a musical fantasy adventure about a noble prince who sets out to rescue a princess and ensure the triumph of truth and justice. "The Magic Flute" appeals to a broad audience as it touches on several themes including good and evil; love and jealousy; rivalry and power; and features a wide spectrum of characters including juicy villains and mystical beings.
The Sonoma State University's Departments of Music and Theatre Arts & Dance join forces for this main stage presentation with stage direction by Amanda McTigue and a 15-piece orchestra conducted by Grammy nominated Lynne Morrow.
Director Amanda McTigue describes "The Magic Flute" as being set all over the world and in netherworlds. Various artistic elements have been designed and created for the production including several life size puppets and elaborate costumes inspired by various cultural influences.
Sonoma State University students are admitted free to all performances with valid student ID.
