Deep in the bayou of the American south lies the brassy and vibrant Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood. A warm tale for these cold months, Petite Rouge is, of course, a cajun take on the classic Grimm tale, featuring a bright world of animals, songs, and life lessons. 

Quiet, cozy, and a little spooky, A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas, is a longstanding tradition for many, and could be a new one for local theatergoers. It's timeless, satiating, and teaches a classic Christmas lesson. While always timeless, its themes of gratitude, thankfulness, and kindness are needed now more than ever. 

Whether you prefer to suspend all disbelief and allow yourself to be dazzled, or instead prefer to try and figure out how these tricks are being done, Champions of Magic has something for you.

What did our critic think of THE WOMAN IN BLACK at The Keegan Theatre?

Mister Lincoln is a pleasant and ruminative piece on the United States and its history. It's humorous, informative, and for American history buffs, surely spellbinding. Read our critic's take.

Faithless asks you to consider what you are committed to, what you believe in, and most of all, why? Faithless made its area debut this September 29th at Washington Stage Guild. The piece follows an older father, Gus (Ron Litman), his two stepchildren, Claire (Patricia Hurley) and Calvin (Ben Blackman), and his adopted daughter, Rosie (Hannah Taylor). 

A comforting and sweet time, The 22+ Weddings of Hugo offers a little taste of everything on the menu. It may leave you wanting something more substantial, but none the less was delicious along the way.

Local theatergoers would be remiss to miss this production, and Broadway World highly recommends the 'Psycho Experience' for those willing to get a little out there.  

Things at Teatro de la Luan feel familiar, and from May 31 - June 9th, they are showing their one-woman show, Mi Escoba por un Reino, or God Save the Queen, starring Patricia Meneses, written by Kado Lostzer, with direction by Mario Marcel. 

On May 25th, Olney Theatre Center unveiled the world premiere of the musical Long Way Down at the Mulitz-Gudelsky Theatre Lab. The piece was adapted from Jason Reynolds's novel of the same name, which has received accolades such as the National Book Award and a Newbery Medal, and was written (books, music, and lyrics) by Dahlak Brathwaite, with additional writing (books, music, and lyrics) by Khiyon Hursey.

Frontiers Sans Frontiers is good. It's refreshing, biting, funny, and relevant. From April 25th to May 19th, under a few trashbags and discarded cups of tea, DC theatre goers may be able to find Spooky Action Theater's production of Frontiers Sans Frontiers.

A beautifully asynchronous and turbulent super-organism, Impermanence opened its weekend at the Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theater on April 16th.

Cinderella: A Salsa Fairy Tale is loud, bouncy, and bilingual. The show is part of Imagination Stage's 'Greatest Hits' season, as it was originally commissioned and produced at Imagination in 2003.

On November 14th, Theater J began its Here I Am series, a 'triptych of tour-de-force performances' as plastered on the playbill. Each piece is a one-person show, the first being See You Tomorrow, which runs from November 14th through the 22nd. 

On its last day at Capital Fringe, The Evening Crane Theatre presented Etched Glass Decanter to a sold out audience.
